Background
At this point in the build, all the aluminum pieces have been installed except 1) the rear roll pan bottom bracket, 2) a spacer that fits between the front wall and the fiberglass cab surround, 3) side rail top caps, and 4) the truck bed floor. The tailgate has also been assembled.
Initial fitment
Initial fitment of right quarter panel with gas filler cutout
The Beetle is now ready for an initial “step 1” fitment of the rear quarter panels.
The left quarter panel should fit over the chassis and aluminum structure without significant modification.
The right quarter panel should first have the gas filler opening cut out enough to permit the gas cap to poke through a little. To help with alignment, mount the tailgate.
