Review panel fitment step 1 and harvesting of the fender edge strip before proceeding.
Positioning the quarter panel fiberglass shells is difficult because there are few “hard” reference points. The two door tabs must match the B-pillar raised surfaces and the front edge should be aligned with the door, but there are no other “hard” chassis frame references apart from the front rocker panel edges.
It makes sense to use all available chassis contact points and for this reason positioning the quarter panel with the wheel well liner is recommended. While the contact points are not as “hard” as a fixed metal surface, the rubber liner is stiff enough for our purposes when installed with the harvested fender edge strip.
